I tried with several audiobooks and i get the same error every time. On scanning the hd XBM recognizes all the files belonging together to one book, as it schould be, but on importing it allways puts the number 9 file into a different dataset. So I end up with files from 1-8 and 10-15 in one entry an the #9 file in another entry in the database.
Any ideas? Greeting zukkara |

My idea is that it is a bug and Ale should fix it |

Hello Alessio,
I tried filenames like this: "01.Get Shorty - Leonard, Elmore" but also "Elmore Leonrard - Get Shorty 01 of 15"
I would have to do some more testing to find out some pattern.
Does XBM expect a certain filename layout to recognize the information in the filename? So far it did not import the Authors name from the filename for example. This brings me to one of my sugestions I made here:http://www.binaryworks.it/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7105 A feauture like in XMM TV Series Import would be great. Because I guess that there might be a lot of individual naming schemes for Audiobooks (and Ebooks). Some of which can't be changed easyly to XBM liking. I have my audiobooks all sorted by the Authors lastname, then the actual book and then the filenumbering and title. In my case this is due to the fact, that my car radio only shows the first 30 digits of the filename. So the booktitle and the number are the most important informations I need browsing my collection in the car. It looks like this in my Audibook library: "Audiobooks\Hemingway, Ernest\A Farewell to Arms - Hemingway, Ernest\1.A Farewell to Arms - Hemingway, Ernest.mp3"
With only some more features XBM will be the best book library manager like XMM already is for movies.
Greetings zukkara

That's fantatic. Alltought I had some problems with the tag system as well sometimes. I found it unpredictabel from time to time. But I'm not using it very often and have to work my way into it each time. Though it is the best way to deal with all the different naming possibilities. One of my porblems was that XMM wouldn't recognize a "\" in the Tag layout like in <SERIE>\<SEASON><NUMBER><TITLE>. Assuming also I was right using the "\" like in a windows file path. But that was quite some time ago, and maybe it is fixed for ages.
I would suggest not only to add it for audio books but for ebooks too. I usaually have the title, the Author (Lastname, Firstname), the Publisher, the release year and the isbn in my ebook titels. Tags for all of them would be needed, especially separate Last- and firstname tags.
Thanks a lot! zukkara

Hello Alessio, I only found time today to test the updates and the tag reading import. And so far it is not working at all for me. Scanning my HD works fine. Then I find all the files in the Grid. I have automatic tag reading enabled. And tried several tag combinations, but they don't have any effect. Sometimes I have difficulties with the tag tool in XMM, but changing the tag usually has some effect, even if it is not the desired. Here nothing changes. Maybe you could give me an example for the tags, to import this line: "01.Get Shorty - Leonard, Elmore" My first Problem is how to separate the numbers from the title? Are there any wildcards? I tried:" **.<TITLE> - <AUTHOR>" and "<NUMBER>.<TITLE> - <AUTHOR>" But in the Titlefield it says: 01.Get Shorty - Leonard, Elmore As i have my Authors name comma separated i tried: "**.<TITLE> - <AUTHOR>, Elmore" and "<NUMBER>.<TITLE> - <AUTHOR>, Elmore" but this didn't change any of the fields in the grid. "Text to Apply" does not work too. And one can only address 3 fields, what about ISBN and Title?
The bug from post 1 is still there. Scanning a folder with 4 subfolders, all with audiobooks, XBM separated the files from each folder into several books. Having less then 9 files it is no problem, but with more I ended up with 3 or even 12 different entries to the database. Which was already visible from the "Join Files" row in the grid. The "Join selected Files to one Book" option wouldn't change the numbering in the "Join Files" row. I had the following naming patterns: "Number.Booktitle - AuthorLastname , Firstname" with 15 files and "Booktitle - DiscNumber - FileNumber" with 6 Disknumbers and 13 files each.
In the first case the files were divided into 3 books: files 1-8, 9, 10-15. In the second case the files were divided into 12 books, for every discnumber files 1-9 and 10-13.
I also would like to stress the point of having different database fields for the Author First and Lastname. In every Library the authors are catalouged by the lastnames.
There is no column for the pseudonym field in the database Grid view.
Could XBM import the covers directly from the folder like in XMM? (be aware not only .jpg but also .jpeg as it is often used) Is there a way to import from nfo files, for example the ISBN like in XMM the IMDB number?
Keep up the good work and thank you for your efforts! zukkara

Hello Alessio, I have been playing a bit with your latest version of XBM. And still have some issues. Some of my problems concerning the tag feature and the joining of multiple files to an autdiobook I have solved and they are related to the somewhat unpredictable way the gridview table for the found books works. While importing files they are shown in the found books table. The right-click menu gives some options like select, join and clear files. But it is not working! One can click anywhere in the a line of the gridview and the right-click menu shows, but it doesn't do anything! It only has an effect, when one uses it on the first field of the line. But even there the right-click menu for the "Check/Uncheck" option doesn't work. Check/Uncheck is only possible by using the checkbox in the "select" collumn. My suggestion would be to make the right-click menu function in the whole line and all it claimed functions or only show it where it has an effect. But showing it without working properly is confusing!
Apart from the bugs I would like to repeat my wish to include a feature to sort and show the authors by their last name first. in a pattern like that: LN, FN. Which is the way every library is sorting the authors, too. Calibre and Book Collector both allow that. They have options as "Show Names as "Last Name, First Name"" and Calibre even has a "Author sort name algorithm" to automaticly detect the pattern. At the moment I only hesitate to import my book into XBM, because of the authors name problem.
Other important features would be a metadata import for pdf files (later metadata writing as well) and a renaming function like in XMM, but with more numbering options (like namings sceme and position and separator). An AKA Title field would be good as well or a way to link two database entries together, for linking to languages versions of the same book together.
