Hello guys,

Finally i've updated the "Custom"-template in several ways.
The first step was only the shadow for the headers in the detail views and some little changes on the detail view.
Now i've added some new features.

Now you can switch the thumbnail view into a rotating slideshow. (Be careful when you have many films in one group. I've testet it on several browsers. f.e. Firefox have no problem with handle many films in the slideshow. Opera will slow down.) The cover in the center is clickable and opens the detail view of the movie.

And in the Detail view you have a navigation register card, which opens the today added films in a slide out register.

Have fun with that.

P.S. I will implement some other features in future. But it's just a hobby. So please give me time. ;)

Hi,
Thank you. Filter by country, director or maybe actor is sadly not possible, because these filters are hardcoded html files and you need for every filter additional 2 html files (Thumbnail- & Grid-View). You can imagine, how many files this would be.

It is very beautiful template ;)
How can we categorize movies by country and maybe by director?

I believe the XMM is distributing an outdated version of your 'Custom' HTML Template. Mine came with a "_Detail.htm" file dated 4/17/2014 5:05am but I haven't checked the latest version of XMM.

The current version should have a "_Detail.htm" dated 9/12/2014 1:38am which matches your dropbox copy.

Thanks alasystems,
I already did this a while ago, in one of my last updates. The one, which is on the server, didn't have that problem. But when an update of the XMM will installed, where an outdated version of my template is included, the files will be overwritten.
So...The one on dropbox didn't have this issue.

I believe your 9/9/2014 Detail template has a minor flaw:

The Cover Section:
<td height='400' colspan="2" align="center" valign="top" sizingMethod=scale>
<div id="cover">
<img border="0" src="_MOVIE_THUMB_" width="250" height="100%"><br><br>

You should remove the 'height=100%' because
Chrome and Opera will display the image 400 pixels high (100% of 400 pixels)
Firefox will correctly display the scaled imaged based on a width of 250.

NEW Update available!!! 09/09/2014

- Changed the color of the text from white to black when you hover a row

- The table in the grid view is sortable now by id, name, genre or seen. Simply click on the head of the column.

- If a field in the detail view is empty, the tab is hidden. Only the tabs with content are shown. The only exception of that is the plot tab, because it is the default tab when you load the detail page.

I have more wishes in the matter of handling the export.

1.) Would be better, if the subgenres would be handled like a normal genre. That means: A movie has the genre "Comedy" and the subgenres "Action|Adventure". And the movie should appear on all three filter pages.

2.) Some kind of cascading variables for the filter pages could make thing much easier. e.g. for the grid view you have to build only the first row of the table and can use variables like _MOVIE_DETAIL_ _MOVIE_MPAA_ _MOVIE_LENGTH_ _MOVIE_COVER_ _MOVIE_YEAR_ and so on to choose wich informations you want to have in the table and the XMM uses the "template row" to build the complete table. The same way for the thumb view. Build just the "template field" which contains the desired informations and the XMM takes this template field to fill the thumb filter page. You know what i mean? Such a splitting could enhance the possibilities enormously.

Related to this it would make sense to have any variable available on any page if i need some filter commands on the detail pages...Why not? And vice versa in the variable cascade. e.g. _FILTER_TOTAL_ in the detail view could make the cookie obsolete.

Next addition to that...Would be great if the HTML export would also include an XML file which contains all informations including detail page links and cover links. (Like the regular XML export of the XMM, but the links are missing or incorrect yet.) This would open up the possibility to build a search function for the HTML files.

It seems that Ale will provide us more variables bit by bit. Like JDommy said...Why not implement all fields of the XMM as variables for the HTML export.

Mathimid,

Great work.
Extra description tabs helps

I'm curious what additional data fields you would like added for the HTML Export?
I would like Movie Features, Subtitles, Codec, MPAA Rating.

The grid mode should have at least _Movie_Year_ added. What else?

Any time I create a template my index.html file opens to a page with no covers/posters and "Movies: 30(for example) and Filtered: 0" at the top left of the page. But when I click Title: ALL, then the covers show up. Each time I generate a html template from a new database the index.html file shows the correct structure when executed but after some time it revert to the problem I just described above without me changing XMM settings and every single template I attempt to use will replicate the same issue described above. Blank index page until I click on Title: All which then shows all the posters with new values for Filtered: Same as the total number of movies added---> "Movies: 37 Filtered: 37". I wonder if any one else is having this problem and please could some one shed some ideas. Thanks in advance for your support.

By the way I'm using XMM 8.3.0.0

NEW Update available!

- Added a new function which is entirely new, but uses the ToneDEF script as source. ... You can make a guess what will happen, when you click on the cube icon in the header of the page.
- Added in addition to that a browser history forward button

- Small change in view ... The tab for the scroll-out navigation was transparent. This transparency is removed now.

I think in addition to new variables (i hope, we will get some ), it would be optimal to have a second detail template for series file like "_Detail_Series.htm", so we could adapt it for the special needs like guest actors in episodes, artworks for episodes, eventually play links for episodes and so on.
JDommi Posted - 19 Apr 2014 : 09:51:44
I would like to see some new variables for TVShows, too. At least the list of episodes would do it...
alsystems Posted - 19 Apr 2014 : 06:43:43
Mathimid,

I'll add the extra rating images so both 6.5 and 6,5 and other numbers will display the same rating graphic. It still looks a bit strange to me but as you say this is the European convention.

It would be nice if Alessio could add a few additional fields to work with the HTML export so we could add it to the Template:
-Comments
-Trivia
-Movie Connections
These above fields would fit nicely with your tabbed box display

Personally I would like the fields 'Video Features' and 'Subtitles' added also.

Also the CR bug hinders the readability of some of this text display:

I know about the thing with the gaps in the movieIDs. Should be a tip for every user of templates with these forward/backward-function. "Be sure that there are no gaps in the movieIDs and use the renumbering function in the tool menu to renumber the movies."

Tip for you...In Europe we use Commas instead of Points for the decimal places. If we import a movie with a rating 6,5 instead of 6.5, the rating stars will not shown, because the script doesn't find the relevant picture. Make a copy of the pictures and rename 1.1 - 1.9, 2.1 - 2.9 and so on to 1,1 - 1,9, 2,1 - 2,9 and so on and place this pictures in the same folder with the other rating stars. This software is used all around the world, so we have to be sure that it works correctly on every place on the world. ... Or just copy my rating stars folder.

The thing with the tab is indeed a good point. At the moment sadly not. Because i've used a auto generate function of my html editor for this function. (it generates automatically the tabs and text field.) I'm sure it is possible somehow. I will try, but my skills are bordered.

Another Great Job Mathimid!

Now I'll have to add some of your improvements to my own version of the 'Custom' HTML Template. At the least, I should add the popup Actor images and graphic navigation buttons.

Since you have added navigation buttons for Previous and Next Movie, I would recommend first renumber your database because any Movie ID gaps(from deleted movies) will confuse your navigation function.

The Plot & Goofs Section scrolls nicely. Is there any way to hide the 'Goofs' Tab Header if a particular movie doesn't have any?

Mathimid Posted - 17 Apr 2014 : 03:48:22
Just a small change between...

- I've fixed the cover and the field for external links in the view so that just the rest of the content is scrollable.

NEW Update available!

I've updated this Template in several things.

Fixes:
- The backgrounds in the thumb-view and grid-view are fixed now, so that they don't scroll.
- Problem fixed: The switcher to switch between thumb- and slideshow-view have sometimes overlapped with the filtered movies.

Main-Changes:
Most of the changes belongs to the detail view. I've also added some features from the ToneDEF-template.

- Whole layout of the detail-view is rearranged.
- Plot and goofs are now switchable over the tabs above the textfield.
- Plot and goofs are set to justify in the field.
- Replaced the backgrouds of the fields. (You don't will see it, but it's done It's to get more contrast for the written words.)
- Feature from ToneDEF: Added the stars under the rating (works with commas and points for the decimal places)
- Feature from ToneDEF: "Next Movie"- and "Previous Movie"-function added. (The arrows on the left and right side are fixed in the view, so that they don't scroll with the content.)
- Added the trailer- and weblink for the movie
- Replaced the written "Home" and "Back" links against pictures.

- The headline became an own background and is fixed on the top of the browser, so that it don't scrolls with the content.
- Feature from ToneDEF: Actor picture will popup on mouseover

Just to clarify...
I didn't wrote the scripts by myself. I used jquery and GPU licensed plugins for all of that. I'm just an editor not a writer and can tweak the scripts a little. ;) Perhaps it's a motivation for other users to try out, what is possible with the jquery framework and additional plugins for that.
I'm a little busy at the moment. So i don't have much time to work on the template. But i will do, when i have time. I have some interesting ideas for things, that should be possible with jquery. But i need time to try it out and find a way to implement them.
The forward and backward buttons are on top of my to-do-list.
