When I sort the films by 'date added' or 'date seen' it doesn't do it correctly. It doesn't recognice the correct order of dates acording to months and years. Instead of sorting like this:
28.4.04 29.4.04 30.4.04 01.5.04
It sorts like this: 28.8.02 28.4.03 28.5.03 28.9.03 28.3.04 29.3.04 29.6.04 |

@Dommynator
You have two possibilities: 1. Use the ASPNET or ASP WEB PAGE addon for eMM (you can download it in the third-party software section, I think a tuturial is inside the packagae). 2. Export your movies as html-database with one mouse-click (description is in the eMM help file). For myself I prefer the second way. I`ve never seen an easier way to put a moviedatabase on my website.

@Mawu:
Of course the html-export is a very easy and comfortable way to create a website for my moviedatabase but it is very static and for my purpose I wanted t have a very flexible databas which shows me or my friends which movies can be borrowed or which are already lent. That's why I wanted to use the ASP or ASP net solution but somehow it didn't work. I wanted to place this database on my Website on a server of University of applied sciences at Trier which allows all kind of websites features beginning with normal html over php, asp and so on. When I typed the URL the result was almost a blank site. Unfortunatelly I deleted all the stuff but I am going to rebuild it and paste the link so that somebody can take a look at it and tell me what's wrong with it.
@Mem: I guess everybody running emm likes it. Germans don't have problems with admitting if someone has done a great job. I always though that this was part of the French character (just kidding). To me EMM really is a nailbiting tool to manage our moviez.
Regards,
Dommy |

...ok...
I am generally NOT someone telling "future" = I'm telling "present"...
BUT I think I can tell you = We ARE working on features like SORT-FILTERS for the HTML-DB...
The most of you might think = "Hey...that's totally easy to do". But better believe me as a professional WEB-Applications developer since over 5 years now... and as professional Applications developer for over 10 years before.
If you want to keep it FAST even over ISDN = you HAVE TO be smart!
1. We want to avoid as much "doubled-data" as possible. 2. We want you as user to NOT have to worry about a mess of "correct" ___choices to hassle with. 3. We want as much "filter" options as possible. 4. We want to even get it FASTER than it IS right at the moment.
...and I now have to say something (some or a lot of people might be disappointed about) => NOT everything is possible with the HTML-DB as it IS possible with ASP or PHP !!! = THAT'S the price we / you HAVE TO PAY for the EASE OF USE!
so long... and we are still working on things to come...

Oyy!
I am also working on some .php scripts right now. I'll post updates as soon as I make some "real" progress. It's a mysql/php solution, and I can't really figure out what would be the best way of keeping emm and my sql-database synced, does anyone know? One thing that would be kick-ass is if emm could use an sql-backend..but hey..maybe that's too tall of an order ;)

| Why not use the ODBC drivers? Very simple, I don't know how to! I only know how to php/mysql :) The current solution is to export as a tabbed text file, and then have the php-scripts automatically load it by using mysqlimport, which works really well. It's not a super-smart solution, I know, but it works. It's absolutely not more work than exporting and updating your static html-pages. I feel that my solution will offer more features than the html-pages simply due to the nature of a php/sql solution. For those interested in something like this, please to email me and tell me what you would like to see, and I'll see what I can do. |

Yes, there is a "bug" because the date field is a string, I hope to fix it soon.
Thank you!
