Can multiple users (me and my wife) use the same database if it's on a network resource?

If not, would that be solved if another DBMS is used, like SQL server och MySQL for instance?

If it's possible, do we need two licenses?

Hi,

It's not possible yet open a database in a LAN, but I have in mind to add this feature soon.

No, you don't need two licenses, one is enough for support us

I am very interested in a multi-user version too. On my home LAN there are PCs in several rooms, as well as 3 KiSS DP-500 DivX DVD players (also on the home LAN), one in the living room and the other two in bedrooms. I therefore would like to have access to the Movie Manager database from the PC in each room that has a KiSS DP-500 DivX player.

Well it is possible as long as only one computer has the database open at the time

@joche
1) Share the XMM folder on the PC that has the database.
2) On the other computer start Explorer (Start - Programs - Windows NT Explorer).
From Tools menu, select Map Network Drive.
Select a drive letter, for example X:, and either enter the share path for the XMM folder or browse the network and select.
Click OK.

3) Start XMM and choose "Database Manager..." which is on the "File" menu.
4) Choose the drive letter X: or whatever letter you connected the XMM folder to and open the "Database" folder.
5) Choose your database and set it as "Default" by selecting it and clicking the "Default" button.
6) The program will ask you if you want to load the database now. Answer "yes" and it should load ok.
Click the "Exit" button to get back to XMM.
7) On the "Tools" menu choose "Configuration...", select the "Folders" tab and change path for "Cover Directory" and "Photo Directory" to "x:\Covers\" and "x:\Photos\" (replace the X: with the drive letter you choose).

Now you can use XMM on both your computers but only on one at the time.
If the other computer has the database open and you try to start the program you will recieve this error message:

Close the XMM program (on both computers) and restart it again on the PC which you want to run it on.

Another possibility is to use "Remote Desktop" (if you're running Windows XP on the computer with the database)
or RealVNC (freeware) http://www.realvnc.com/ to remote control the PC that has the database.
