1. when creating a new database have the program ask you where you want to save it, make the default folder be there but allow people to save it to another drive or folder or on a server at the time of creating it...
2. Make the bookshelf of xmm its own standalone program, this is an idea i have since there are 4 people in my house and they love the bookshelf part of the program but not the main part.Make the standalone have to work only if the database has been made by xmm.
Now the reason behind the idea 2 is that i have a windows home server that serves up my movies, music and pics to all my comps,xbx360,ps3 and xbox origanel. We have 5 comps and 4 laptops in the house and im shure others have the same if not more and it would be nice to just install a standalone bookshelf program and tell it where to get the datbase from then say my daughter can load it up and look thru the movies and click on the one she wants to watch and click play.
If the database was created and saved to the server then this would make it alot more easy for those that don't know how to use the program.
1)You can already do that.... not? Maybe there is a bug somewhere...
2)This is a bit complicated... but You can always lanuch the new Icon to start only in Shelves mode... from the last release the installation procedure should have create such icon in your desktop.
Ok 1, salved, it was windows vista giving me troubles... I had to do a full reinstall then it was letting me select where to save the database.
2. with the new verson yea i can do that for the rest of my familys comps :)
Thanks for the reply and i love the new update, keep up the work i have found you xmm to be one of the best out there and i have tried alot of them and was not very happy with the way they where
