XMM has a very convenient and useful feature where it can automatically backup the database each time you exit the program. However, that backup has no option but to go to the XMM directory in Documents and Settings. In the event of a crash, both the original DB and the backup would both be lost.

I would suggest making the backup directory selectable by the user. If the automatic backup could be saved to a different drive or partition, for example, the backup would not be lost in the event of a crash.

Hi,

You are right, I will try to add an option in the configuration window to select the path of the backup.

Thank you!

Thank you very much for implementing this feature in the newest release! If I may make a further suggestion, perhaps it would be better if the database was backup up automatically when the program is closed. Right now the automatic backup takes place when the program is opened - meaning that there is still potential to lose all the work you've done between sessions.

Thanks again!

Hi,

yes, you are right, but in the past (I speak about the old 4.x releases) sometimes database get corrupted when you work with XMM and maybe the power is cutted off during backup. This is why I make backup at startup (when the database is not yet opened by XMM).
