I've tried to search for Tivo references, most are in another language (It?) that I can't read.... so, there may be some redundancy here in this request.

I have DVD's, VHS, Laser Disc.... and Digital copies -- with most coming from Tivo (Converted to MPG).

As I've got about 30TB of Tivo video's that need to be organized, on about 20 different hard drives. For the most part, your software will read the information, but it will need a large amount of hand editing before the files can processed (read information from the WWW) with scripts provided. (TV episodes are even worse, and require MORE hand editing).

As there are a lot of people using Tivo (and keeping the recordings) a means to directly get them into the DB would be VERY helpful.

The question / request is two parts:
1. Is there a script to read the Tivo file name - and place it correctly into the database? Can it be written?
>>> Sample Movie:
H:\MPG\2,000 Maniacs (Recorded Oct 31, 2008, TCM).mpg
{path}\{Name}{Date Recorded},{Channel}
>>> Sample TV Series:
H:\MPG\60 Minutes - ''Political strategists; used electronics'' (Recorded Nov 9, 2008, KIRODT).mpg
{path}\{Series Name}- ''{Episode}''{Date Recorded},{Channel}

2.(LOW priority) Is there a script to get information from the Tivo directly, and place it into the database? (Not to download the Video, but rather the information that the Tivo has available for the given video)
{Sample information can be provided}

Discussion:
The Tivo box can be read (locally) as a web server, and some of the information on it retained. One of the big things is to have the channel the show was recorded on. (A uncensored channel, Commercial channel, re-broadcast of an series ) all will have an important part in deciding which copy of a show I might like to watch. Frequently a re-broadcast might have more or less information than the original showing.

(If / As necessary, I would be happy to be your beta-tester ! )

Thank you,

Dan
