Yep, I do that all the time. Simply search your hard drive for the movie (or have that drive set to scan automatically for new movies) and it will ask you if you want to add the movies. Say yes and they will be in the database. Then do a sort by year, genre or any other field that will be blank for the new movies. They will be at the top after your sort...highlight all of them and right click and select Quick update selected. The script will then query the info and fill in your details. But you MUST add them to the database first before importing the info into the database...A little practice and it becomes intuitive :-)
OK, if I understand correctly, a list of titles must be added to the database, and then use a script to import the info for those titles into the database.
But what if I don't know beforehand which titles I want to add, and simply want to add the movies with a particular title to the database? I'm thinking particularly of adding to the database movies which I don't already own, but could mark off as I acquire them. |

click on Add Movies>manually by Title and just add the title Click Save and Exit Make Sure that you enter it in the very top line where it says "Enter Movie title here" You actually type over that line and replace it with your Text. Then you can sort your database by an empty column (I do it by Cover as I have a cover for all the movies I have already)and select the movies you don't have downloaded info on and just update them. I would also fill in the Custom 8 field with the IMDB number to ensure that you get the correct movie updated. Does that help?

For do what you wrote I use often the function to add movies by internal webbrowser. I surf on IMDB in search for movies and then I press the button to add it to database and import info automatically.

Hi again,
I see what you mean, Ale.
One thing I've noticed, which might be significant. If I input a word or group of words at the prompt <Enter movie title>, the script (any script) returns a list of movies, some of which contain that word or words in the title, and also some that don't.
I wondered why this happened, so I downloaded some of the movies which didn't include the input words in the title. On inspecting them I found that the word or words appeared elsewhere in the text of the movies, e.g. in the comments, and not just in the title.
This also occurred even if I input the correct title at the input prompt. |

Hi Kencr,
Now I think I have understand what do you mean.
If you select more than ONE movie xmm simply MERGE it! It will not add 2 or more movies!
When you import info for one movie, XMM will import the information ONLY FOR THAT Movie.
So, if you select more than one directlinks XMM will join it.
This is the "philosophy" of the MagicScript engine. With this for example, you can select in the same time the IMDB and AMAZON Script and then merge the information of both websites.
I am sorry, but this is how the MagicScript works and i really cannot change it...

Hi again,
Following on from what you say, does this mean that if I want to import the information for, say 15 separate movies, I have to repeat the 'Add movie' procedure for each movie separately (i.e. 15 times), even if all these movies are on the same page of the same website ?? |

Sorry for my delay!

Yes, this is exactly what I mean. I am sorry, but this is the only way right now. Usually people use XMM to scan their Hard disks or CD/DVD, and then import info from internet, not the reverse.

What about copy/paste on the wished movie titles and automatic add and save in XMM (maybe inclusive actual website if script is existing)? Should be easy to realize, Alessio. |
