Hi dear friend!
Some issues and ideas from a developer, to make this great software even better.
1) The alternate colors in the grid is not a good idea as in some color schemes are not OK (dark on dark or light on light). I think the best way for this, is to use color Blending to get slightly colorised rows based on system colors.
2) Grid rows color in 'Search from the Internet' results does not look OK in some color schemes like mine (same problem as in 1). The same colors problem in the Treeview, the Script manager, in Listviews and many other places. Try to use system color always and not fixed colors as the color schemes everyone uses is the best for him and you will avoid such issues. I have to swich back to original XP theme to be able to see the text contents.
3) When the startup form is loaded, does not remember its previous state (Maximized) and opens in the last size but NOT maximized so creates a window bigger than the screen (store the window state as well as the window size and position in the registry).
4) If using the IMDB script and setting the "number of actors to import" option = 12, the script retrieves the 12 actors from the END of the list always, so the main actors in the TOP of a long list never are shown (Use 'SELECT TOP ... ORDER BY Actor ASC' query).
and some suggestions ...
4) Try to group menu items in long menus, to be more user friendly. Menu items that can be found in Options do not need to also appear in a menu and configurations that can be placed in Options are expected to be in Options dialog and not in a long menu.
5) Give the ability to customise the Toolbar(s).
6)Does not need 10 MRU entries for last open database in the File menu (2 would be OK).
7) Give the option to turn OFF the download progress mini window (not needed as the progress is displayed in the Wizard).
8) Set controls appearance 3D and not Flat to avoid the colorized frame around them (in my color scheme is orange in dark grey bakground which is annoying)
9) Give the option to Cancel a long time ... download so the user can escape from a not responding connection.
10) Clearly separate the diferent Script returns, in a Search from the Internet.
11) Screenshots !!! A must fix section. Movies do not load and screenshots can not be extracted. I always get a .NET Error.
"System.NullReferenceException: Object reference has not been set. in System.Windows.Forms.ToolStrip.HandleMouseLeave() in System.Windows.Forms.ToolStrip.OnMouseMove(MouseEventArgs mea) in System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmMouseMove(Message& m) in System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) in System.Windows.Forms.ScrollableControl.WndProc(Message& m) in System.Windows.Forms.ToolStrip.WndProc(Message& m) in System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m) in System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) in System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)"
Thank you and sorry for the so many suggestions but I hope you will realize that it is because EMM is a very nice piece of work and I need to use it for my Movies collection

Hi Panos,
The Point quote: 11) Screenshots !!! A must fix section. Movies do not load and screenshots can not be extracted. I always get a .NET Error.
, Do you get this error when you extract FRAMES of movie file? Do you get this error when the file you try to read it "locked" by another application?

Hi Alessio
No locked files. The Error occurs 'on dialog startup' on any AVI file that EMM tries to load AND continously as mouse moves over the WHOLE dialog. The movie is not loaded correctly as nothing is displayed on screen. I do not know how you load movies, but I guess you use a DirectX surface that causes the Error. Trying to extract frames manually OR automatically (by setting number of frames) only BLACK JPG files are created. So, it probably has to do with the display surface you use because the FFDShow codecs are corectly loaded for the movie (icon in Taskbar).
I have Greek Windows XP SP3, Pentium E8600, Asus EA 4870 1 GB card and I use EMM version 6.7.4.0. Glad to help at any time.
