I programmed a movie manager myself back in 2000/2001 to control my thousands of movies on HDD.
For the years passed I tried out alternative applications. Still not found any good alternatives.
Now I downloaded XMM 6.3.5 and found out that it finally has "Search on your harddisk for movies". This is the feature I was looking for, that I made back in 2002.
The critical problem is that it doesn't import the .nfo file with the corresponding link to imdb!!
My movie manager made in 2002 imported all data from imdb automatically for 99% of the downloaded movies....
I dont have the time to update my movie manager so if XMM got this feature i will gladly switch over and get a XMM license.
CRITICAL features missing in XMM:
-queue copy/move from a harddisk to another -import .nfo files and grab imdb link, automatically import data. -recognize important information from filepath. Its very very simple. Its like Title.Year.720p/1080p/etc/.dvdrip/x264-GroupName ...
Im still using my own moviemanager...half written in VB / half C# .net...
Thank you.. |

SUPER GOOD SUGGESTION
i mean when you add a movie and update it the program should create a hiding nfo file with the all necessary details ( name , trailer location ... etc )
i indexed my whole 1300 movie database but when i had to relocate almost all of my movies and spread them it became impossible to re add all of them on the same database
now i had to re add them manually ALL OF THEM
but with this idea problem solved |

Hi Guys,
I am trying to develop a "file manager" inside XMM that automatically check when yo move your movie files from an HD to another or in different folder.
Smygarn, please send to me an NFO file, so I can better take a look at it's structure.
Thank you,
Alessio |

I agree, nfo support should be a high priority update!

it should be really simple the movie name + the link to the main update site and the file should be auto placed in the folder where the movie is
off course EMM should be able to read these info when you rescan the file |

In support of Alessio, NFO files vary wildly. So importing the movie title and IMDB link would be near impossible. There are too many ASCII characters in some NFO files, and hardly any in others. My $.02 |

I'm with thewarm. NFO files are impossible to read in programmically. |

To revisit this old suggestion, can the NFO files be structured the same as the XBMC structure?
Surely im not the only XMM user that uses XBMC as a player?! |

Hi Guys,
I am trying to make XMM compatible with XBMC too, but I have some problem with NFO File.
If you open XMBC, and add the subfolder of your database called "_mediacenterdir", XMBC show you all movies and covers, but not the informations about the movie.
Anyone has the documentation about the NFO file that XMBC like?
Thank you,
Alessio |
