Hi;
As I said in the topic title,I suppose that most of the people save NFO files nearby the video files like me, it would be greatful to read IMDB links from NFO files, if there is a NFO file with same name of video file or only one NFO file in a subdirectory
This is ony a suggestion... |

Is this something that is now possible, or is it a feature very few people request? |

Hi,
Now you have made this possible. My question is: Could you also make a function to create or append nfo files with at least the imdb link? Maybe a new export function? I would like to see this because recently I have bought a HDX-1000 networked media tank and I am trying to create a jukebox with YAMJ. This program also uses nfo files. So now I have to manually make a nfo file for movies it can not automatically link to the correct imdb entry. Would be nice to see this "automated" |

That's great! I now see there is an option to try to get the IMDb link from the .nfo file on import. But this doesn't work for my files. I have a .nfo file in every directory, but this only holds the pure IMDb link. Should these files be in a particular format? (i.e. XBMC's .nfo configuration)
Would this string be read better?

Well, it is quite simple how I do this, Alessio:
1 - I search for the movie at IMDb 2 - I create a textfile, paste in the moviename and make it an .nfo 3 - I open the .nfo file and just paste in the link to the IMDb page
So it's really just the http://www.imdb.com/title/ttXXXXXXXX/ in there.
To regards of the XBMC .nfo standard, I recently read somewhere that it would be nice if everybody made use of the same standard when handling .nfo files. And then it was suggested that the already developed XBMC standard could be used. I'm not using it at the moment, though. (http://www.xbmc.org/wiki/?title=Import_-_Export_Library#Video_nfo_Files)
@Brainy:
I have the Popcorn Hour A-110 and I'm using it sucsessfully with Nono's Kroozebox.(http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showthread.php?tid=9260&page=1) He have made an excellent movie jukebox and have made a template/ plugin for a EMM database.
@Alessio:
His EMM plugin has had some problems reading from certain fields in EMM's database. Is there someway you could help with this?

Alessio,
The most simple form is just an .nfo file with the same name as the movies file name containing just the IMDB link. Most programs I know of can handle this including YAMJ. For YAMJ there is a wiki entry over here http://code.google.com/p/moviejukebox/wiki/NFO_Files As you can read toward the bottom of this page they are also starting to use the xbmc xml format suggested by Senso which sounds to me like a good idea.
@Senso I also found the Kroozebox software. It took some doing to get it working but I managed (I had no odbc driver). It works quite nicely but so far all programs I tried have some irritating flaws or shortcomings. For Kroozebox my pc needs to be on and for multipart movies there is no option to play them as a playlist (that I know of, I have my hdx-1000 just a week today). Other programs have a less smart genre listing on top which is nice, but do you have any idea how this looks when you have ~2500 movies in your library? etc etc. I still have to find the "perfect" jukebox but so far YAMJ and Kroozebox are the most promising. |

I totally agree! There is still not a "perfect" jukebox for the NMT's out there, neither for movies nor music. For me it's mostly due to the fact that no jukebox (except myiHome) has a GUI that's usable. And though I've spend the time learning how to change properties and configuration in both YAMJ, Kroozebox and others, I have to admit it's sometimes confusing and has lots of those flaws or shortcomings you mentioned.
The German NMT forum is developing something they call UMC (Ultimate Media Center, I think), but I don't think it's being translated into English. |

Great!!
Thanks. It will make my digital live a lot easier :-)
@Senso Do you have a download link for umc? I found the sourgeforge page but there is no download there. German is somewhat of a problem, but I probably can manage. |

@Senso
Thanks, I found it and despite the German language got it to work :-) It looks promising and has some pretty good ideas like joining movies into groups. But for the moment I think YAMJ is the way to go, but I sure will keep an eye on UMC. It also has yet another NFO file layout... |

@Brainy:
Well, there you go! I have tried to get it to work, but couldn't. Then I also discovered a new thread which seems REALLY interesting, the Joe's Mediabox. Check out the videolinks: http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showthread.php?tid=17345 As to the NFO structure of UMC it seems to be difficult to get an unified approach to this issue.
@Alessio:
You're just the best! The export NFO function in the latest edition is really good. And since it's a no-brainer to make own templates, it's right on target. Thank you, man!!! |
