1. Once a direct link is found (either automatically or manually), you can not protect this when re-running an import. I would like to have a setting to “keep the current direct link”, this would then able a re-import to be run using slightly different scripts, options or fields via the Step1 Select Direct Links. As explained before many movies have titles which I do not want to index with. A temporary solution is to “Use Original Title to Query the WebPages” but I am still nervous about searching again when I have already “carefully” selected the links I want.
2. When an IMDB search finds a single result (I think this is the cause, eg. M.I.B. Men In Black (1997)), the engine automatically selects this (even if automatic selection is disabled) and then selects the first link for all remaining movies.
3. There is no control over what fields are imported except from “Step 1 – Open the Wizard to Select Directlinks” and then following imports are some times with all fields and some times with the selected ones from the last import. Again there it is not clear if new direct links with also be searched for.
4. Edit Multiple… and Multiple Changes at Once Perhaps the multiple changes at once could be moved to the Edit multiple… dialogue. They seem to be closely related and would unify that type of function. It would allow further extension of the dialogue too so that the “Multiple Changes at Once” options are split up into logical groups and additional tools such as clear a particular field and replace script used etc. The clear field could be implemented via an extra button next to each field.
5. Select direct links “watch a preview”. I feel this would be greatly improved by having the preview as part of the dialogue (or toggle for preview in current dialogue or separate window). This could be automatically updated when the link is highlighted or when Preview button is pressed. Also, a small thing is that when you click “watch a preview” the link then is not very clearly selected afterwards.
On whole this are small issues particularly when considering the pure power and flexibility of your application. I love the work you have done and are doing, its such a superb bit of software and the rate of update is fantastic! Sorry again for posting a lot, really not being impatient/unhappy (promise) I just wanted to make sure I gave you as much info as I could to make it eaiser to find the issues.
Thanks again. |

Hi!
1)Yes, you can, there is the little checkbox at bottom of the DirectLinks list, called "Clear all OLD Links"
2)This should be not possible, please be sure you have "uncheck" the option to automatically pick the first directlink that engine found.
3)You are right, the only option you can use to "not replace fields if already contains some data". I cannot change the engine, especially because of chains.
4)You are right, I will try to study a possible modification. Btw, the "Multiple changes" should remain also in the right-click menu, this because users can apply changes without open the edit window.
5)I will try to find some space where put it
Thank you!

1) Doing so add another script to the list to import. 2) I have, and it works fine until it finds one with only one option. I will run further tests to confirm this. 3)Fair enough, quite a big impact. Using the not replace fields option will work fine, just need to be able to clear particular fields on-mass. Could be a problem for fields where some are filled and others not but you don't want to be updated. How about being able to protect fields from within the normal editor (also able to be set via the edit multiple). 4)True it is handy to have it there. The main thing I think is being able to clear fields.
Thanks. |

I'm not sure whether the first problem is the same I have on my mind but I quess so. Here it is: It's very very annoying that each time I want to update info for the exisitng movies, scripts always perform web search and if they find more than one match for the title I always have to pick the one I'd like to use. As onlinetimc said, since all these movies were importeed before and they have direci link, why not to use it. Maybe I'm missing some options and it is possible, if so please tell me how. Why do I need it. Simple thing: I want to update tha rating info for all my movies. Without using existing Direct Link I have to pick for almost all of them the right search result. Is there any way to overcome this problem ??? If not please thinkl about it. Picking web search result for over 1000 movies is not a simple think. And I think updating some infos (like rating, comments or rewards) for all the movies from time to time is a great thing. In addition just one question, if I select many movies, than select the script and set for the script to get only rating value (once), will it import only rating info for all selected movies??? |

Strange thing. I tried to check whether the script imports only selected informations and it doesn't work. I deselected all infos but rating in the script configuration window and it did not have any influence on importing. Script has imported all the informations. Is it a bug or have I forgotten to check something????
As for the direct links batch import uses them, doesn't it???
-------UPDATE-------------------
Hej, sorry for both posts, it seems I was too linked to the old versions, I wasn't searching for new features. Now I'm thinking how stupid I was, that I hadn't found all those things. Just imagine that I haven't been using the newest imdb script because in the liveupdate window I was downloading only those scripts which were ticked. It means I did update only existing scripts not downloading the newest :D :D :D LOL
I've also managed to check that the problem with not importing selected infos is only related to the older imdb script. I have now the newest and everything works great. So again apologize, today I'm sitting and getting familiar with all the features, so that I don't ask stupid questions in the future :D |
