when using XMM to extract codec infos from mkv files i have noticed that several fields are not read correctly from my files - is this a bug or simply not implemented?

perhaps xmm could read this fields too?:
Playtime
Bitrate's (audio & video)
Framerate
Audiochannels (even better if it could list all audio channels not just the first like now)
Languages & subtitles (XMM could try to list the languages of all found streams)

the current MediaInfo-library is reading all these fields correctly for my files

thanks in advance!

I can't answer your first question, but in response to the second one, if you insert a DVD, then go to Add Movies --> Original DVDs, XMM will extract the rest of the data from the ".ifo file" on each disc. The data should be visible on the "MovieCard View" tab afterwards.

Is this the .mkv extension you're referring to by the way? http://filext.com/detaillist.php?extdetail=MKV

yes thats the format. itīs like avi but can contain multiple audio streams & subtitles in itself. so its no complete dvd i want to add but files i have already on my hdd.

xmm is recognizing mkvīs already, but for me its only getting filesize, resolution and audio codec correctly. but the rest would be nice too, especially the film length.

Try adding MKV to the File Reading menu via Tools --> Options perhaps?

no - mkv is already listed there.
as i said: xmm is reading the files correctly itīs just not getting all possible fields from the files (e.g. length, language etc.)

I notice it doesn't always add certain fields even for standard DVD files. I just deleted a film called "Chaos" (Ryan Phillipe, Jason Statham) which I had in the dbase because the film length was missing. After adding it again, I used the IMDB script to import all known info. But I note XMM didn't import any covers this time even though there was one there in the original data.

I guess we'll just have to wait for Alessio to turn up to resolve this one.

EDIT: Before I forget, there's a utility called GSpot which you can download from here: http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ which might prove useful to you especially where it concerns .mkv files.

even better is mediainfo (which xmm uses too i think)- the current version detects all my files correctly. so properbly xmm is just not adressing it correctly or so...
iīm using the tooltip dll version under xp and it works great for mkv.

Hi Guys, and sorry for my late reply, I was on holidays

You are right, XMM use medianfo dll, so should read correctly all information.

I will make some tests to see why it's not working.

Thank you!

Please fix support for MKV.

It seems to be brocken now. At least,
it does not work on files muxed with new MKV.
I have just updated my XMM to new 5.6.7.0
version and checked this.

Hi,

Thank you Alessio for your replay. Today i have tried to import
information from an MKV file again, but still it does not work.
Strange, with AVI it works, but with MKV not...

Could be this connected somehow with the size of the file or
with installed directshow filters? I use standard Hali filter.
Or it must be something else. Here i have data of this file
readed with the last MediInfo. It can do this without any problems.

Thank you,
Hauru

Hi,

It seems to be a problem with large (about one DVD) MKV files.
With small files (about 700-1400 Mb) it works without any problems.

Best wishes,
Hauru
