Sorry, wrong Board! Please send to script board!

Everytime I try importing movies with a script of ODFB there pops up an error asking me if I am connceted to the internet. What's wrong with it? I have tried using the latest ODFB scripts but nothing changed.
Just to avoid any questions: I AM CONNECTED!!!!
Other scripts work just fine.

Thanks for any help,
kind regards,

Dommynator

Hi,

This is strange, because when you import covers, all are stored in the "covers" subfolder of XMM. Please take a look if there are or not.

Let me know...

Ok, i found out the problem. It is related to system encoding.

I use win2k, default locale was set to Chinese since I am a chinese.
When I install the package, some scripts cannot be installed, but most were ok. Then when I import movie info from the web, pics could not be imported. Also, scripts cannot be openned in the editor.
Once I set the default lacale to Western Euro and US, no problem at all.

@acrodex

...Yes you are right! (sorry)

The mentioned problem IS a very common especially when it comes to WEB-applications (eMM is one) and country-specific character-sets!

There are "easy" ways to "solve" this (W3C and so called "gurus" try to make you to believe that)

But please believe me = they are not that easy to implement! (switching to UNICODE would be a possibility but this would cause other problems then)

IT IS very hard work even for advanced coders.
(you have to think around corners switching between 8-Bit(latin-western) and 16-Bit (eastern / asian) charakter-sets!

If you can live with switching between your and western country-settings = this would make our life as coders a lot easier!

...and NO = we are NOT that arrogant and simply ignore your problem!

But please take in concern WHY it took even Micro$oft over 1/2 year for a working chinese Windows!!!

so long...
