Add/Edit file has the ability to mopve through the database a record at a time. Sadly this sequence seems always to be alphabeitc regardless of the value in 'SortBy' Is this a bug or a design feature :-)? |

It's a design feature!
This because the sequence is related to the SortBy you select, so you can "browse" your collection in the Edit Window as you like.

I am sorry because I cannot find 'Sort By'
If I change the order of the movies in the drop down box next to the green spanner (ver 4.8), it makes no difference to the order which Add/Edit forward and backward buttons move through the database (which seems always to be in Movie Title order).
Can you please tell me where to find the 'sort by' option to which you refer ?
I think (hope) it is this that makes Editing titles is very irritating. After each Edit/Save the list refreshes itself and the cursor loses its place. Also, all the expanded lists of moivies in a Box ID close up (so, if you are editing by Box ID/Title, you can no longer see the titles)
Thanks for any information |

Hi,
It's in the main window, under the movie list, in the Quick filter section.
Bye!

Thanks.
Bit advanced for me though. You have a section (drop down list) at the top which sorts but does not sort for Add/edit and a section at the bottom which appears to do exactly the same hing but DOES sort for Add/Edit.
Perhaps some consistency or some documentation?

Eemmm, you are right. I am trying, in the new 5.0, to make things with consistency, I hope to follow the right way.
Thank you!

Alessio I just checked. Something odd is going on
I set the sort sequence (under the movie/Actors tags) to DVD ID/Title and Add/Edit moves in Title order Sortyby (in the Quick! section says Title so this seems fair enough
Sadly if I select SortBy DVD ID (in the Sortby field under the Quick section) Add/Edit still goes through the database in Title order.
Better, I suspect to have only one SortBy which drives both the display and the Add/Edit sequence.
I await 5.0 with eager anticipation :-) |

Sorry for my late reply Ricewind but I was not at home this week.
In the new 5.0 there is no more this "Sorting Sequence", so all should be OK.
I really hope to relese it in one-two weeks.

Hhhmm - well I am not sure what you mean by 'All should be OK'!! It seems that Add/Edit still steps through the database in alphabetic sequence and there is no option to step through in any other sequence. If you do actually want to edit records in sequence, the desired sequence will almost certainly be alphabetic within something - for example, Alphabetic within Catalogue Number. Please can you make Add/Edit move through the database in the same sequence as shown in the tree - typically alphabetic within catalogue. Thanks |

Hi Ricewind,
I will try to find a solution for this problem, but it's not easy.
Thank you!
