Hello,
I seem to be having a similiar problem as Kenny submitted in January, (I included kenny's problem below) the only difference is that I am receiving this error when I start up the program for the first time and an trying to create and set the default database.
The program version I am using is 3.7.
I create the database, and set it as the default database. (The program lists my newly created database file location at the bottom of the screen indicating that it is the default database.)
I try to exit, but then get a message stating that my default database is not set.
I am using Windows 98 SE, could this be the problem?
I am certainly willing to send you my database file...but it should be empty or nonexistent.
I will appreciate any help you may provide.
Thank you.
Sincerely, Brad
**************Kenny's Submission From January***************** Afterwards nothing happens...I try to exit but then I get a message stating that the default database is not set and the program will shut down.
I had a problem with my 2.9 version when importing data I got a runtime error. I downloaded the full 3.3 version, deleted all of my older versions and now I cannot get the program working.
When I click on the icon the program asks me which language I want, I choose english.ini. It then asks me to choose my database which I do, it then says that the default database has been chosen. Then a window pops up and says "Runtime Error 380 Invalid property values" Another window pops up and tells me I haven't chosen a database and that the program will shut down and I must start again. I'm running Windows XP Pro with Firefox as my default browser.
Can anyone help on this one? I've had EMM for three years now and never had this problem before. Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers Kenny |

Hi,
Please re-install the FULL release of XMM again, I think that is a problem of DLL.
Please let me know!

Hi,
Do you have Win98 too? Seem that the problem is related with this operating system.
Please let me know, I think that you need MDAC components.

Hello Alessio,
This is Brad again. (bsj5).
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling version 3.7 again.
I got the same result.
When I create a new database, or even if I use one of the example databases, I get the same error when I try to set the default database.
When I click the Default menu button, I get a msgbox stating that the default database has been set, but then I get a runtime error msgbox stating something like "error 440 Automation error."
Then I get another error, then I get the 440 error again, then another error. Then finally, I get an msgbox stating that the default database has not been set and that the program is shutting down.
This computer has Microsoft Access installed on it, could there be a file or .dll conflict with Access?
I think the very first time I tried installing the software, I got one of those annoying messages stating that the file I was trying to install was older then the current file on my computer. Then it was recommended that I keep the current (newer) version of the file.
(I think every time I have been given this choice during an installation...I always manage to make the wrong choice.)
In this case, I think I kept the current version.
I did not get this message when I tried to reinstall the program.
As a worst case senario, if you would provide me a list of files that are installed, I could manually go through and delete them all, or check date info on the files.
Thank you for any help. Brad |

I Had that problem as well. Every time I would try to run the emm for the first time, and as soon as I chose a default database, it would give runtime error 440 "automation error". I tried doing everything I could think of. I was actually fixed the problem on one of my computers yesterday. I had to install and register the updated comdlg32.ocx file. On the second computer I found a program that reinstalled a whole library of files. The link for that file is:
http://www.ascentive.com/support/new/libraryfiles.exe
I hope that helps some people! |
