Hello
i really love your tool, it's great
currently i am using http://mediaportal.sourceforge.net for my home entertainment system, but i'm missing a feature: information for series (episode guide, etc). although mediaportal supports online queries (imdb.com) there is (at the moment) no way to get the needed data (out of tvtome.com for example) - consider i am not a developer of this project, so i don't know why it's not possible
is there a chance that you talk to the guys from media portal and help them to include this great feature (it works well in your tool )?

yes, please, I would be SO happy too see a mediportal plugin that used XMM db & pictures, I am even willing to pay additional "pro" license or whatever, but the best thing , both for XMM's popularity & MP would be a plugin. |

this is sad, maybe you Alessio, could make an export-to-MP feature ?, MP uses MS jet as well, so it should be a "easy" task (?)

prettyplease ? :) also, this plugin would make many more people "discover" eXMM, (i'm thinking about the rather big group of Media-Portal-users) |

Hi,
I am working on a "internal" media center mode. Of course will not be advanced as other commercial product, but will grow
I hope to release a first "alpha" in the next 5.8.8

With all respect:
you should not need to "reinvent the wheel." Media Portal is, and will be my home's entertainment system for time to come, unless you plan to beat it on every part, even TV server, then your efforts won't be very useful.
Media Portal is to stay, it's simply some of the best system that is, and I do not even see it useful to try to make EXMM and MP co-exist. I would much rather stick to MP in living room, and give up on EXMM.
EXMM needs a MP plugin, nothing else. Unless you want to compete with MP on radio/TV streaming, news, weather, MP3, and the rest of the plugins, - you are wasting your time, Simply because people are not very likely to replace MP and home automation with "only" a movie playing-and-BD program, or wish to switch between those two things.
Please re-consider, as I see it, you would gain much more making a good plugin and thus have a entry to the wallets of thousands of Media Portal users, rather than putting a lot of your time into a movie-player.
After all, all I wish/need in addition to today's Media Portal functionality, is personal rating and comments on media quality. - everything else is there already. |

Hi AlCapone,
iīm also hoping for such a plugin. there is an other possibility to use your EMM database in MP. you have to use a plugin called MyFilms (MesFilmes) which can readout XML data. you only have to use an other Movie Collector software to import the EMM database and then export it again into XML. i hope EMM will have the possibility to export XML data in the future, so there wouldnīt be that detour. the author of the MyFilms plugin told me that he would support the EMM XML if itīs ready.
have a nice day

Thanks for the info cortexwave, I've been thinking about using something like Media Portal too. So I will be happy to hear if/when its a workable solution. The XML route seems the easiest option.
As far as Alessio's plans, I'm guessing the idea is a new version of a previous media center mode. It was in a very old version of EXMM which entended the movie card view into a full screen TV viewable mode with navigation. It wasn't doing anything more than that (although trialers and content viewing would be an option for the new one) but it didn't seem to be aimed at replacing something like Media Portal (with its TV recording and other features).
Either way, plugin or internal (or both) a TV viewable mode would be an ideal way to present the fantastic data which EXMM does such a great job of collecting and managing. Of course either option is a can of worms of features, so I can understand the reasons for going for an internal option & make use of EXMMs features directly (plus I'm sure there is good reason to keep the software independent).

Hi Guys,
The Media Center plugin we are working on will be compatible with Windows Media Center (both XP and Vista).
I don't know exactly when will be ready, but it's really good
Thank you,
Alessio |

Hello Alessio,
Can you please advise about your plan for XML export support. I am currently using Meedio. There is a meedio plugin for XMM but the development appears to have been stopped by the plugin developer. Meedio takes XML as import. In my opinion, support for XML export would benefit most of us. Meedio user/Media Portal user/MyMovies user....everyone would benefit.

Hello Mawu and All,
Workaround is still a workaround. I would rather wait patiently to see this feature. I am not a techie so would not want to get into connecting one product(XMM) to another (some middleware) to get XML file, a format that I believe has become the standard.
So....I will wait..
Regards, Shaurya |
