http://www.movieweb.com
They often have info for very new movies that IMDB and DVDEmpire don't have yet, and almost always have very high resolution posters available, especially for newer movies.
I have no idea how to get started with writing a script.
You search the movie title with the URL:
http://www.movieweb.com/search/?search=nameofmovie
Once found, the movie's web page is fairly uncomplicated. The format is pretty consistent, and displays the following in a list:
Release Date: Director: Writer: Starring: Studio: Genre: Official Site: Rating: Box Office:
The brief synopsis is in a box below that, and the poster thumbnails are in a frame to the left of that, with a "click to Enlarge" link for the bigger posters, and a dropdown select box if there are more than one poster (if there are more than one poster, there will also be thumbnails of all available ones on the large poster display page at the bottom which makes it easy to get them all).
For movies where more information is available, there is a link in the top navigation bar where you can get a more detailed synopsis, but it only comes to life if there is more info available, otherwise it's greyed out.
If someone could help with starting out on a basic script to grab this information, that would be much appreciated. I could probably refine it (I can program in visual basic so I have some programming knowledge) but starting from scratch with an unfamiliar scripting language, well, I just don't have that kind of patience!
Many thanks, The REAL Joe
