OK...OK!
Give us a little time...and we will see! Sure there are some people having not that big use of "date added"... but it's also sure that there are people having use of it!
SO = the logical step = we'll try to get "sort by year" ready for the next release! (no promises!)
We currently provide 5 data-filters and 6 sort-filters = 30 possible combinations!!!
By adding only 1 sort-filter = 35 possible combinations!!!
...and I want better GFX-support for the moviecards export! (everything other than copying by hand = better! ...hehe)
AFTER Alessio has finished his exams = we will stick together for the next release! BE PATIENT!
so long...

Posted - 29 Mar 2003 : 19:05:06 I see your point though that the "Year" does not really have a specific enough of a date like date added has. It would then be possible to go and manually change the entire collection now... changing "date added" to the movie release year, and then it would probably be pretty much on time from here on with date added. But isnt that just for hardcore movie collectors to have the movie as soon as it becomes possible to "back it up"? What about peps that dont back up that quick?
Still think release date would be a nice way to sort... possibly along with date added.

Posted - 29 Mar 2003 : 18:53:23 Memtronic: Seriously... I bet if you put a little question forum on what people would think to be a more useful option... release date or date added, you would get an overwhelming majority saying they would like the release date. Expecially as more new users come and buy your program... the date added has no meaning since the first few hundred movies were added the same day in no specific order.
About the "multiple changes manager" cool!! problem solved :) This program kicks ass an has solutions to all :)

...come on... show me that there is something behind your nicname!
HOW MANY movies come out a YEAR?! 50...100...200 ??? HOW usefull should it be to sort by YEAR? (your answer given = nothing to do with DATA-MANAGEMENT!!! ...more with CHAOS)
You are a little lazy...that's all! (YES...it is our fault to become you guys that lazy with all that comfort in eMM ...hehe)
"simply" = change the date added BY HAND! (it's a onetime go)
"and svcd or vcd filter does not work" => mhhh... 1. right click on any title in eMM 2. chose "multiple changes manager" 3. select all movies of the same type (vcd or svcd in your case) 4. right click and chose "change media type"
At least THIS should help!

Lol my bad, not a good example that one, but well... I guess I didnt remember it to good cause it doesnt really work :(
Pretty much does nothing when I press "encoded moves" different from "all movies". Basically all the movies I list are SVCD + VCD + Divx + XVID... not dvd or vhs... and svcd or vcd filter does not work... anyway... since the option is there already disregard that last one.
About _MOVIE_YEAR_, well.. since if it gets sorted that way for you guys anyway with the other filter... I guess you shouldnt mind using the _MOVIE_YEAR_ filter since it does the same thing :) Makes more sence for those that are new to eMM to not have to add the movies in a certain order so that this filter will work. Does no difference to you since you "never" download old movies... but makes a diff to others that are downloding older movies but want to be able to filter them via new to old...

"they want to see what new movies I have" => for me and a lot of people I know = "date added" SAYS HOW NEW THEY ARE! ...and Alessio was the same opinion...
"...sorted via check buttons instead of list? that way it would be possible to sort for example: Divx in alphabetical" => YOU SURE didn't try out the filters!!! (DivX + Xvid + other codecs = "ENCODED")
"why are you just a "new member" here on the forum?" => You should have realized = I am a tricky bastard! ...hehe __ Being a "moderator" = I would have to stay very calm! (general rule)

Posted - 26 Mar 2003 : 19:12:37 Sounds good you guys,
Memtronic: yes, thats what I meant(_Movie_Year_), the release date would be like 10 times more useful since people checking my list out probably dont give a rats ass about when I added it to my list (except good friends that want to see what I just got), they want to see what new movies I have :)
Also the added to the list part is kind of silly since I already had a few hundred movies when I got my list so the all of them are in no order really... but yes.. anyway cool option though.. I wonder, would it be tough to make the list get sorted via check buttons instead of list? that way it would be possible to sort for example: Divx in alphabetical or is that a huge pain in the ars?
(and btw. why are you just a "new member" here on the forum? :) how long do you gots to be a member to get a status :))

Posted - 26 Mar 2003 : 14:21:47 Hi,
You are right, at this time engine cannot read the filesize, but I have plan to solve it for the next release 1.3
Thank you! |

"Export (This goes to MemTronic I assume):" => You are right
"the dates come out all wrong" => You are wrong (with that ...hehe)
"dates are when the movies were added" (by the user to the database) => You are right
"release date option" => so we talk about "sort by movie-year" (_MOVIE_YEAR_)???
"I never get filesize with vcd's or mpeg or dat" (btw. vcd + dat are mpeg-derivatives) => You are right ...sorry __ This is Alessios' part ...and as mentioned before = STUDYING comes BEFORE FIXING!
"the new build 3 says Build 2 in the titlebar" => I even had no time so far to test build2 !!! ...but this should be fixed easily __ (You Wiz should know what I am currently working on...)
so long...
