What would be very usefull on importing actors is if there are more than one link to see the a list of the actor's movies in database.
What would be even better: if there is an imdb link in the movie to compare it with the found results.

And probably the very best: to compare movies in database with the filmography of the results. |

Sometimes my explanations confuses myself, too *lol*
In other words:
Function: Import actors without being in the database and without the imdb link.
Solution:
Step 1: pass actor name AND a movie with year from "movies in database" to the imdb(actors) script.
Step 2: search for a direct link. If only one is found: get the data.
if multiple result:
Step 3: compare the "movie in database" against the filmography of EVERY actor that the script returned as possible result UNTIL the first match. -> Get data.
(load filmography page -> #FINDLINE# the movie name and year)
As step 3 will take some time it should be optional to be processed.
I would proceed it in 2 passes:
1. import data of all actors with only one direct link
2. continue with the critical actors
The little rest has to be done manually...

And finally add the actor id to the actors of the movies. But that has to be done after each successfull import. |

I'm confused (not the first time for that...) Are you looking for an Actor Lookup Tool that searchs IMDB for all of the Movies a Actor is in to see if that list matches the XMM DB??? or the other way around where you search IMDB for all of the Actor's that were in a Movie that's in the XMM DB???
For me, I would be happy just making sure that when I add a Movie or TV Show, that
1) the correct Actor's are added to the Movie DB Record by
ActorID for that Movie (no Actor's with same name issues)
2) the Actor database has MovieID's to each Movie the
Actor is in that's in the DB. (correct Actor with correct
filmology)
3) And also that the Actor info can be accessed by "Last Name,
First Name & MI". (using first name, initial or other can
cause bad data)
4) Finally, a Actor DB Maintenance Tool that simplifies the tasks
associated with updating the Actor links within the Movie DB
and the Actor DB. In addition, does verification using IMDB.
I know I probably over simplified the issues but as it stands now, its difficult to use the existing data and even trusts if its complete or accurate.
