Not sure where to post, but..

As seen in my signature my comp has fairly high system specs. I can play Far Cry 2 and Crysis Warhead without a single stutter. Games used as benchmarks for computer hardware. I have dual monitors. One has all my monitoring apps running, sidebar, and IM apps. While playing either of the games mentioned my cpu usage never really goes past 75% for both cores. My CPU temps at idle are a steady 26c and while playing the games can go up to 39c. All expected and normal.

The thing is when I am importing movie details from IMDB (pretty much all I use) my CPU usage hovers at a min of 55% and spikes to 75%. My CPU temps rises to 36c. This is while importing only one movie. Its not crippling my computer or anything, but seems a bit excessive. Importing info does take a bit to complete but you can't control the speed of a website. I have to imagine though that whatever is going on under the hood of XMM it is slowing that process down. I've used Ant Movie Catalog for years and it imports from IMDB with more info (audio formats, aspect ratio, etc) minus actors and all of their info in seconds. With actor downloads I of course expect the process to take longer..much longer even. The speed or lack of isn't a real concern of mine though. The resource usage though is a real head scratcher. Just seems that importing movie info from the web shouldn't take as much system resources as some of the most demanding games on the market. Ram seems to be completely unaffected. No noticeable raise in its use.

Things are changing though I can tell. With the latest release, 7.0.3.3, only one core seems to be used as oppose to both in all previous versions. Except it peaks at 100% then starts to take a little from the 2nd core, but not much. Temps still raise by 10c easily though.

I've looked around the forums for a few hours and haven't seen anything addressing this so I thought I would bring it up.

Anyway great program and glad I paid the 10$ for it. More features are always wanted but I know they are being worked on as seen in the wish list thread. Also seeing there are updates every few days it seems you are working hard to constantly improve XMM. So BRAVO!!

Yea I understand what you are saying. And have noticed just that. I can still run multiple apps at the same time with no slow down what so ever. Just thought it was odd.

Hi!

Sorry for my late reply!

I think I have found the problem of the CPU, XMM just wait until a website has finish downloading, so it loops continuosly. This increase the CPU usage, but it's not really "used". What I mean, is that if you lauch other process like games and so on, you computer will not be "slow", this because the CPU usage of 100% is not "real".

I hope you understand what I mean, my english is terrible.

Alessio
