I have purchased your product to catalog all of my DVD's and have plans to move most of them to my Vista Media Center PC. However I have a Sony DVP-CX995V which I am interfacing to the Media PC via an RS232 port. I have a C++ program written for the Sony where you can send commands to the DVD 400 slot changer to select a specific DVD/CDs from one of its slots. I am looking at re-writing the program using either C# or VB.NET if needed to make it function.

My question, is their any way for me to allow the extreme Movie Manager to link to an external application or call external functions so that I can select a movie through the manager and have the codes sent to the Sony DVD changer to select the movie and play the movie.

Yes, it's not a problem for me manage the RS232 port, the only problem is that I need to know what is the Communication instructions because every Hardware (in this case Sony) need specific communication protocol.

RS232 port signal support would be awsome!!!

There's a plugin for Winamp, which uses rs232, so in past years, I built a button pad across my room and I'm able to command my music via those buttons!!!

So it would be cool to launch my favorite movie with a single button click! =)

Hi,

This is really interesting! At this time you cannot do such thing, but we can try to make it work.

We have 2 ways: you can rewrite your software in vbnet (just the code to control the Sony) and then I can put your code directly inside XMM, or maybe you can make a stand alone application, or a dll, and I can try to "call" it.

just let me know what is the best way in your opinion.

Thank you!

Alessio
