Posted - 04 Aug 2004 : 05:38:15 Ok, something is VERY wrong here.
I'm not exactly sure when it happens yet, but every now and then a title will have dissapared from the list. It happens when I insert a bunch (burning a full dvd, with 6 films) and when I'm finally done inserting the last one, I find the 2 first ones are missing and I have to insert them again. After the 2nd time of inserting them, they will stay.
I add them one by one, by reading the files, and pressing 'save & exit'. I usually have EMM displaying by 'DVDid/Title' when I add. Can it possibly be something about the number of titles I have? It's now 2333.
I know it's very difficult for you to find this error, unless I find exactly when/what makes it happen, but I thought I'd post to let you know about it anyway, and I can give further info when I learn more. |

I am working really hard on the next release of XMM. I think I have found the problem, so should be fixed for the next release. I hope to upload it before 2005

Posted - 15 Dec 2004 : 04:25:22 Hi. Using your trial v2.9b4:
this is a very nice software, I tried it and would like to buy it. After creating and deteleing several dbases on the trial version, trying to learn it, and trying different techniques, somehow I ended up with 3 missing entries at the beginning of the dbase. (#0, #1 And #2). I don't know what exactly caused the problem as I am trying to learn and didn't notice when it happened.
But perhaps I did have the EDIT box open while lookng at movies on the master list on the left column.
In any event I removed the program, as I can't trust it when it will delete entries. I would send you the dbase as you asked the others, but all was deleted before I found your fourm.
I will gladly buy your software as soon as this problem is solved.
Do you have any progress on the problem? Do you know when a version with a fix will be available?
Don't know if any of this will help:
I was adding DVD movies, by entering the title and then QUICK. Selecting the correct movie at IMDB.COM, SAVE (sometimes SAVE & EXECUTE. which I never figured out the difference between the 2 save types).
Then I would READ one IFO, then SAVE & EXIT.
Sometimes I read the IFO first.
Sometimes I reopened an entry to EDIT it.
Sometimes I would close the ENGINE after SAVE, othertimes I just minimized it, so I could see the EDIT box.
thank you and Seaons Greetings to you,
dane

Posted - 06 Oct 2004 : 07:57:30 Hi,
I don't think that these movies are lost, should be inside the database (in the case of krayzieportagee).
There is a field, wrong filled by XMM, that "block" the visualization of the movie.
krayzieportagee, can you please ZIP your db and send it to me?

Posted - 06 Oct 2004 : 06:20:41 is there a way to get back the titles which have dissapared because of this error, or are they lost for good? |

Posted - 03 Oct 2004 : 20:43:29 I also thought i had this problem with build 3. When i open emm it only shows like 4 of the 10 movies i added. I have to manualy load up my database so all the movies i add show up. Does anyone know how to fix that? |

Posted - 30 Sep 2004 : 07:19:11 Well that might acutally be an easy way to solve the problem!!!
Make it so that you HAVE to close the 'ADD NEW' window before you can go back to the program. |

I might forget to add something in the previous movie info like subtitles or something and if I don't correct it right away then I might forget
And why not leave the window open if it's possible? Otherwise I would have to first close it and make the adjustment and then open it again. Am I lazy or what? |

Posted - 27 Sep 2004 : 19:46:57 I presume then it's just a case of the second movie overwriting the first movie.
Why would you leave the 'add new' window open anyway? |

Posted - 26 Sep 2004 : 19:25:37 Yeah, I've been suspecting it had something to do with switching back to the main program, while having the 'add new' window still open... And I guess maybe something to do with reading more than one files as well then...? |

Posted - 26 Sep 2004 : 15:41:02 I've had this problem on different occasions but have never been able to figure out exactly when it happens until now. When I go thru these steps then it always happens.
1) I add a movie for example "TEST 1" by opening up the "Add/Edit Movie Information..." window, click the "Read files", select one (or more) files to be read and click "Read ALL Selected Files". Then I save that movie by clicking "Save" button. 2) I click the "New" button to add another movie. 3) I switch back to the programs "main window" (but leave the "Add/Edit Movie Information..." window open in the background) and make one change in any movie in the database and click the "Save" button (in the main program window). 4) I switch back to the "Add/Edit Movie Information..." window, click the "Read files", select one (or more) files to be read and click "Read ALL Selected Files". Then I save that movie "TEST 2" by clicking "Save/Exit" button. 5) Now the first movie "TEST 1" that I added is missing from the database but the movie "TEST 2" is there.
There might be other circumstances that movies are disappearing but this is the only way that I've been able to recreate it. I hope this helps you find the bug

Posted - 21 Sep 2004 : 09:11:37 I've noticed that the titles that are dissapearing are ones that were recently added. For example when I add movie nr. 2951 maybe 2950 will dissapear.
Might it perhaps have something to do whith the .mpg bug? I'm referring to the fact that if you try to 'read' an mpg, EMM will freeze that file, and you can't delete it untill you've shut down EMM. |

Posted - 17 Sep 2004 : 09:29:32 I just noticed this happens when I add a movie without 'reading files' as well. Any progress? |

Posted - 11 Aug 2004 : 10:45:51 Hi Alessio,
I don't know if it's linked to this bug but with mass dvd, if the file name of the movie contained ' we have an error message but the movie is added... Maybe this is this bug that vanishes movies...
