Posted - 18 Nov 2008 : 20:24:43 Hello Alessio,
I retried XML export and have following findings.
1. Actor and Role are merged together as one field. Also they come out with special charcater. For the movie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0416449/, its coming out as
<Actors>§Gerard Butler|King Leonidas|0124930#§Lena Headey|Queen Gorgo|0372176#§Dominic West|Theron|0922035#§David Wenham|Dilios|0920992#§Vincent Regan|Captain|0716490#§Michael Fassbender|Stelios|1055413#§Tom Wisdom|Astinos|0936300#§Andrew Pleavin|Daxos|0687091#
It is not possible to import this XML into any application.
2. Unlike CSV export, XML is not allowing to choose fields for export.

Thanks for an awesome product. |

Please send to me your XML, I will check what's wrong. The export of Actors should be OK now.

Posted - 19 Dec 2008 : 16:03:49 Hello Alessio,
Any update on the XML export. I continue to get invalid characters in the XML file and could not import it. Also are you planning to allow for export of specific fields?

Posted - 04 Dec 2008 : 01:21:12 Thank you Alessio,
I forgot to mention that in the 6.5.3 release I was not able to select specific fields that I wnat to export to XML . For example, I don't need distributor, music director, producer, trivia, goofs script name etc. But I have not choice. All the info gets transferred over.
While you are at the Export feature. You may want to consider providing an option to save the exprot settings. This may come very handy IMHO. For example..
User selects XML export; All movies; Few fields (Movie Name, Year, Actor, Date Changed) and names this setting as XML_ALLMOVIE_FEW_fIELDS. User selects XML export; All movies; All fields and names this setting as XML_ALLMOVIE_ALL_Fields.
Down the line if you provide command line support then for exporting user may just need to say C:\XML -export XML_ALLMOVIE_FEW_fIELDS. Same could be applied to Import as well.

Posted - 02 Dec 2008 : 05:11:56 Hello Alessio,
The actor issue in XML seems to have resolved. Thank you. I am however noticing some different issues that wer not present earlier.
I have uploaded my observations here at http://www.2shared.com/file/4382046/4e458ae1/Issues.html

Posted - 27 Nov 2008 : 17:21:24 Question...Are you changing the database design to have this information stored in separate field.
Also I noticed that in XML import option to choose selected movie or to choose all movies is disabled. I had to go to csv export option and change it to all movies and then go to xml export to export all movies.
Once again than for your dedication. Keep up the good work. I have noticed heavy curiosity around XMM in thegreenbutton.com and popcornhour.com forums particularly after the integration of video browser plug-in.

Posted - 19 Nov 2008 : 20:23:56 Something like this may be more acceptable for import in any application.
<Actor>......</scriptctor> <Role>.......</Role> <Actor ID>....<Actor ID>
