Posted - 03 Nov 2008 : 00:09:40 Currently I'm translating my genres into Turkish and after a couple of multiple edits XMM messes up the selections!
Example:
I'm selecting 20 Documentaries, choose multiple edit, change genre to "Belgesel" (Turkish name of it), then XMM starts changing the genres out of the selection, I think the ones above and below...
This really becomes a pain, because I have to go and find those falsely edited movies and change them one by one.
Why does this happen? Is it possible to fix this, if not; what should/shouldn't we do to prevent this?
Thanks Erke
PS: Eventhough I select "Save & Exit", after the proccess is finished, the XMM asks me if I want to exit without saving the changes?!?!?! |

Posted - 05 Nov 2008 : 17:55:33 Thank you so much Alessio.
Good luck with the testing. I'm hopeful that you can fix it.
And thanks to the video capturing system (I used SnagIt) I caught the moment... Other wise I wouldn't know how to explain the strange situation.
Take care, Erke |

Posted - 04 Nov 2008 : 20:24:39 Dear Alessio,
I captured the moment of flaw into a video file, you can download it from here; http://members.lycos.co.uk/merket/XMM_Grid_Flaw.wmv (6.26.MB)
As you can see I select 13 movies from the "Thriller" genre, then I right click and choose "Edit Multiple" and write the Turkish translation then click "Save & Exit", proceed with multiple editing.
Then XMM starts to do strange things with the grid, edits different movies and leave 6 of the selected movies unchanged.
Please take a look and tell me what you think.
Thank you, Erke
PS: Try copying the link to the "Windows Media Player", I think lycos has some problems with opening the link directly. |

Posted - 04 Nov 2008 : 18:56:40 Thank you so much for your suggestion. I didn't refresh the grid after every change but used it after the problem occured, but no help of course...
I really wonder why does this happen, I hope Alessio figures it out. |

Posted - 04 Nov 2008 : 17:29:18 Can I suggest, once you have made a change, refresh the entire database and select the next batch. It could be due to database display issues. |

Posted - 04 Nov 2008 : 16:57:34 Yes, it does work at the begining but after a lot of changes to the list, the selection doesn't work. I don't know when or why this happens but it does.
Prior to the example above, I translated 6-7 genres, hundreds of movies in total. Then I started editing genres in less numbers like 10 movies or so, that's when it started happening, more than once. It does some strange "refreshing" thing while this happens. Due to being sorted by genres, XMM updates the places of movies in the grid, but while the list being updated, SOME of my selection remains the same and XMM starts updating the wrong movies.
May be it's about RAM or cache or something? Doing A LOT of changes in the grid may be messes up after a priod of time (or a number of movies done) and may be we should restart the XMM once in a while?
I don't know, but I'll try to video screen capture it if I dare to decide doing this again. Just tell me where to send the file...
Thanks |

Posted - 04 Nov 2008 : 14:14:32 Hi,
I have test it and seem to work.
I have do this:
Select the movies I want change the genre.
Right-Click and select "Edit multiple..."
Now, in the edit window, I have select the new genre and press Save & Exit (it's the only button active).
Please let me know,
Alessio |
