Hi,

Looks like xMM has problems when My Documents folder is on network path. In my system My Documents folder locates on \\server\user\nnnn\MyDocs folder.
xMM installs ok all files to this folder, but when I try to run xMM after installation I get error, cant find files from c:\server\user\nnn\MyDocs
??????

Now i'm trying to hack, to get xMM work again...

Hi Rik,

What release of XMM do you use? Because in the latest release this bug should be fixed.

Thank you,

Alessio

I have a similar problem related to My Documents being located on a server.
The program does not find the path for the database and appears to be looking on \server\users\myname instead of \\server\users\myname where the sample database was installed. The mentioned key does not exist in my registry so I am not able to update it. How can I get it to look for the correct path (without changing Mydocs to my local drive)?
Please advice,
Rik

Hi Alesio -

I guess I knew that the latest versions of XMM don't rely on config.ini. I still have one from an even older version and that's what I had modified to provide the network address where various parts of XMM are stored on my network. I have just renamed it so that it will can no longer be read by XMM (should XMM even be trying to read a config file). XMM seemed to start correctly the first two times I started it without the config file - though there was still an indication it was loading the "old configuration". A quick check of the registery shows that it does contain the appropriate network locations for the XMM parts. (Does the registery get rewritten when XP re-starts after it has been shut down?) BTW-and this may mean something: I have mapped my network locations as drives - i.e. My documents is mapped as the Z:\ drive therefor, XMM files that are normally found in the "My Documents" folder are mapped as Z:\eXtreme Movie Manager\xxxxxxxx - and the actual data base is at M:\Internet Movies. I had difficulty when trying to use the unmapped network address in the registery (or config.ini file) (such as \\Net_files\Alen\My Documents\xxxxxxxx) and getting XMM to load completely.

Hi Allen,

In the latest releases XMM doesn't use the config.ini anymore but read the registry, this because many users has problems with config.ini.

I have had a similar problem with my network. I now have a config.ini file in the folder where XMM is insatlled with all of the network locations specified by drive letter and path. When XMM loads it loads from the "old locations" i.e. the config.ini file instead of what ever is in the registery - or something to that effect anyway.

Hi,

Try to edit the window registry, the key at this location:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\eXtremeMovieManager

Key:
DocumentsPathReal

and write here the "\\server\user\nnnn\MyDocs folder"

Let me know if works.

Thank you,

Alessio
