I had exactly the same problem. The only way I found to solve it was to uninstall and reinstall completely XMM. I had an XMM installation folder that was not under "My Documents" (XMM db was there though).

It seems that this is the only visible change since my reinstallation. Now XMM Places all its files under "My Document". I guess through incremental upgrades since the 1st 5.x release the move of all files there was never done and when it became really mandatory, the update was failing.

So try to move your files or reinstall and let me know.

Arcadian.

Alessio
This is what i get when I try to add new movie
"The default script no longer exist in the script folder. Please select it again in the next window" When I go to next window which is Select Quick Import Script It is empty and does not let me make any choices.
When I try to download new updates I get " Error Downloading Files Are You Connected To the Internet? Please Look To See If Firewall Blocks Extreme Movie Mgr" I am connected because the movie is added to my running list of movies ,but with no information about the movie or its cover. I hope this helps you. Like i said I tried all different scripts
Fix it and I will send DONUTS

I have the same problem, but updates server works. Scripts as filmweb.pl, amazon.com works but imdb doesnt. I have error: "The remote server returned an error : (404) Not found.5"

Just to let you know that I have the same problem as everybody. I cannot access any script nor update any of them or get access to the updateserver.
I am using Vista + Kaspersky AV 6.x I have suspended all securityblocks to see if that would be a reason but nothing helps here either.
I will install the old version now and hope for the best.

I have tried everything to get two things to work. 1 download updates without going to homepage. 2 to get any script to work without error *s. Turning firewall off. trying internet exployer, firefox, you name it. It is in your system not ours. I have been following what others have said after I made you aware of this in a * earlier. It does seem strange that more that one of us has ALL the same problems. I tried to open each one of the links you gave Kennyfr and they will not even let me save to disc. Do I have to remove 5790 first? I really want to keep up with your updates or I will get far behind so let me know what YOU think i should do. I can wait if you are going to look into it.
Thank you for all you do
Norm

Hi

I have the same problem. Does this mean that future updates will also be unusable? It doesn't really inspire me to upgrade ever again.

Hi Guys,

I really don't know what to say, I haven't change nothing in the engine, so should connect to web without problem.

Have you an old release to reinstall? just to see if older release are working.

Thank you,

Alessio

After updating to the latest version of XMM (5.7.8.0) I got the same problem, can't connect to any server for script update.
Tried with the firewall off, still the same problem, "error 404 server could not be fund"
Never had any problems with older versions of XMM.
Alessio Viti Posted - 24 Mar 2007 : 18:39:38
Hi,

you have to select the "eXtreme Movie Manager" that is under your "my Documents" folder.

If this folder doesn't exist you have to install the FULL release.

Please let me know,

Alessio

Hello :)

I got the same problem. I changed nothing in my configuration, I use Zone Alarm, impossible to use the automatic update since I installed 5.7.6.0 and latest versions. The problem does not come from us, there is a bug somewhere.

Each time EMM aks me to look to my firewall. So I did the same thing that norm3777: I put down my firewall. Even with no firewall, impossible to updates scripts and program.

Finally I completely uninstalled the program and installed the latest version, but now with 5.7.8.0 I got another problem as I already described in another post: EMM always asks me that:

http://cjoint.com/data/dyqt5UYCo4.htm

The first directory exists, not the second one. So I created the second one. Whether I select the first or the second, the window popup again and EMM never start.

In short:

5.7.5.0 = Works great, can use the update function

5.7.6.0 = once updated to this version thank to the automatic update, impossible to use the update function, new scripts are no longer listed. So I went to the website and downloaded 5.7.7.0 (update file, not the full one)

5.7.7.0 = still the same problem, impossible to use the update function. I uninstall everything and decide to install 5.7.8.0 FULL.

5.7.8.0 = does not even load, always keeps me asking for the directory.

Fortunately I got the full 5.7.5.0. I've just installed it some minutes ago. I authenticated EMM, restarted and now everything works fine as usual. :) EMM tells me that 5.7.8.0 is available as update and it shows the list of all new scripts. I didn't tried to update to 5.7.8.0.

So there is a problem since 5.7.6.0. I'm on Windows XP SP2

The problem is the internet connection. I don't know why, but your firewall do not let XMM go in internet, this is the problem. I don't know exactly how to help you, maybe try to tell again to norton firewall to let XMM connect to web.
