Posted - 06 Nov 2006 : 11:58:09 Since several days I have a problem importing films from IMDB (my only importing source). First i thought it's by a lame internet connection but now I realized it's always the same movies where import runs fine and the same where it doesn't.
In detail:
I use the 5.4.7.0 (but it happens also in 5.4.6.0). I get the "Error downloading the Webpage"-Error follow by the "Internet Connection Error"-Page.
Before the error occurs, I can see my routers RX and TX blinking so communication seems ok.
Even if I copy the URL from the Download Monitor to my Firefox of IE, it downloads the page fine, so Proxy or Firewall or Connection can't be the problem.
The strangest thing is: some movies run and others don't (about 50% - 50%).
I.e.: http://akas.imdb.com/find?q=Keeping Mum&type=substring&tv=on&sort=smart tt=1 mx=50 runs fine,
http://akas.imdb.com/find?q=16 Blocks&type=substring&tv=on&sort=smart tt=1 mx=50 doesn't run. If you think it's about the Number in Titel? No - because:
http://akas.imdb.com/find?q=Naked Space&type=substring&tv=on&sort=smart tt=1 mx=50 also doesn't run, and
http://akas.imdb.com/find?q=Murder 101&type=substring&tv=on&sort=smart tt=1 mx=50 runs fine...
So I'm completly confused about this problem, any ideas ???
Addendum1: trying one of these "problem"-movies with another source (i.E. OFDB) it runs fine: http://www.ofdb.de/view.php?page=suchergebnis&Kat=DTitel&SText=16 Blocks is ok...
Addendum2: I had the idea to switch off the "ignore errors" options for magic Script and now I got "The server commited a protocol violation section ResponseStatusLine5" before the internet error occurs...
greetings,
frosch

Posted - 15 Mar 2007 : 00:41:32 Hi!
I am using XMM 5.7.5.0 and I have a simular problem that other.
I am tryin to update my movie database with importing data from IMDB. But when I import movies that have never been imported it works fine, but when I try to update data on movie that has been imported allready I get an error to check my internet connection. This is not the problem of course... But like I can see the problem is IMDB movie link. Firt time I import a movie the link is like http://imdb.com/title/tt0095705/ the second time importing the link is like http://akas.imdb.com/title/tt0110622http://akas.imdb.com/title/tt0110622.
Do you have sollution for this?

Posted - 23 Jan 2007 : 04:19:38 I don't know if this is the same problem but I started experiencing a problem yesterday after updating to 5.7.2.0. Just before I did the update I put in a couple movies and went to update from IMDB and had no issues.
Then the update completed and now whenever I enter a movie and go to update the screen jumps to the download page like it's going to search for the files and then it immediately goes back to the Add/Edit movie information window with nothing imported.
I tried a different script tonight and had the same issue. I have tried shutting my Norton firewall off and that didn't help either.
Any suggestions?
This is a great program Allesio and I enjoy it very much. |

Posted - 08 Jan 2007 : 21:31:37 Mmmm... seem to be a bug related to DNS and IMDB, because you wrote that all others script are working correctly.
I don't know exactly what to say now, I will make some test.

Posted - 04 Jan 2007 : 14:16:55 Hi. I'm having this bug(?) since several versions ago. I'd notice that trying in different days could get the info skiped by the error. Could be a DNS error? Or maybe a mistake in the server names when looking for info? Bye.

Posted - 03 Jan 2007 : 18:38:43 Okay, I disabled the Windows Firewall now and the problem is still there.
He says to me, that the programm cannot connect to the internet. He wants me to check, if I'm connected to the internet (yes, by router), a firewall is blocking me (no, is disabled) or my proxy settings (if I have one) are correct (I don't have one, I think).
Sometimes he can connect to the internet and founds the movies I want to import on imdb.com and ofdb.de. But while he is downloading the informations he shows me the same error.
I only have this problem with imdb. Let me give you an example to show you, when this error appears:
For example the movie "16 Blocks". If I want him to look for "16 Blocks", he shows me the error directly, he can't even found the movie on imdb.com. If I want him to look for "Blocks", he founds the movie. But while he is downloading the informations he shows me the error.
What about ports for my router? |

Posted - 02 Jan 2007 : 20:42:02 Hi,
Yes, can be a problem with firewall. Please let me know if you still have these problems when you have setting your firewall.
Thank you,

Posted - 29 Dec 2006 : 18:11:37 I still have this problem! I use 5.6.8.0. In 5.6.5 or somthing like that the error was fixed, but now he is back again. Could it be a problem with the firewall (I use the WinXP firewall) or with a router? |

Posted - 20 Nov 2006 : 10:53:10 Hi Frosch,
I must admit that I haven't find a way to fix this yet. In my PC this happens really rarely, this is why I cannot find the cause... I am still testing.
Thank you!
