Posted - 11 Jul 2005 : 01:39:56 Hello! I have just bought this great program and started to add movies into it. I have a problem with the covers for movies that have a sequel.
For example, I have added the movie Blade and downloaded the cover for that movie, that just works great. Now when I add the Movie Blade 2 I get another cover of course for that move. But when I now look on the first Blade movie it also have gotten the Blade 2 cover?
If I look in Grid View i see that both of them have the same name (blade.jpg) for the cover, how do I change that?
If I try to change back the cover for Blade 1 in the Cover Manager, Blade 2 also gets the first blade move cover?
It not just on the Blade movie I have this problem, it's the same for Conan 1 & 2 and Evil Dead 1 & 2. I have this problem for all the movies that have simular names in their sequel.
Hope you can help me... If you don't understand my problem I try to explain some more.
Thanks for a great program

Posted - 17 Jul 2005 : 10:54:22 I have the same problem and now i am wondering if i should go through my entire database to correct any mistakes in covers the XMM might have made. The expected behaviour would be (in my opinion): When importing information about a movie (this includes any cover art) to make this information unique to that particular movie record (i.e. no information sharing between movie records).
Currently it seems that when XMM imports a cover art with a name that already exists it will append simply a number to it but in the movie record it seems to use the 'base name' of the filename. Stranger still, if i go in the cover manager and for one movie change the first cover it also changes for any other movie that might be using the same base-name of that file. Regarding importing cover art from other sources than the internet this also seems not to import but just to place a link to the file (i.e. when i import a file from a removable media such as a CD-ROM or DVD the file is actually not imported but just the location is remembered. This means of course that whenever i want to browse the database and see the cover i need to insert that particular media again).
I hope this will be fixed in a future version of XMM which is otherwise an excellent program.
PS: does this also mean that simply making a backup of the movie database directory (called "database" of of the main program directory) that contains my database.mdb is actually not enough and i should backup more than that?
Best regards, SiskoBen |

Posted - 11 Jul 2005 : 01:44:47 Hello again!
I just think I solved it myself the very minute after I asked this question.
Under the Tab files I could change the name of the cover.
Maybe this feature could be added to the Cover Manger in the future also... |
